International Protein Day (27/2): Nuverta launches new products made with Belgian pea proteins
On International Protein Day (27/2), Nuverta, Arvesta's vegetable protein plant, will present three new products made with Belgian yellow peas. Thanks to a completely local chain - from cultivation to processing - Nuverta makes it easier to bring sustainable proteins to consumers' plates.

Three new products - packed with 'peapower' - on shop shelves
Nuverta today announced three new product launches developed from its Belgian pea proteins:
- A pancake mix enriched with Nuverta proteins, now available in Aveve shops.
- A second pancake mix with Nuverta ingredients and a high-protein bread will soon follow at Delhaize.
These products, developed in collaboration with Aveve Bloem, Arvesta's expertise centre for flour and baking mixes, show how innovative, locally produced ingredients can be turned into accessible and popular applications that everyone knows and likes.
Nuverta: an innovative, sustainable and fast-growing Belgian protein chain
Nuverta stands for a 100% local value chain: from the cultivation of yellow peas by local farmers to processing at the high-tech food-grade plant in Mettet. The chain is distinguished by:
- a local production with a low carbon footprint;
- a clean process without water or chemicals;
- added value for farmers thanks to profitable, stable cultivation;
- growing markets in food, animal feed and innovative applications.
In 2025, 500 hectares of yellow peas were grown in Belgium. In 2026, this will increase to 1,000 hectares, with the ambition to grow to 3,000 hectares by 2030 , in order to meet the sharply rising demand for local proteins.
